With mild temperatures, overcast skies, and high water levels, fishing conditions on Kerr Lake should be favorable. Here’s what anglers can expect:
- Largemouth Bass: Bass fishing should be good. With high water levels, focus on flooded brush and trees near the shoreline. Spinnerbaits, plastic worms, and jig ‘n pig combos should be effective. Main lake points and creek channels are likely to hold fish.
- Striped Bass: Striper fishing could be productive. Look for breaking fish between Buoy 16 and the Clarksville Bridge, and at the mouth of Bluestone Creek. Trolling Cordell Redfins or bucktails along the river channel might yield good results.
- Crappie: Crappie fishing should be excellent. Target brush piles and bridge pilings in 12-15 feet of water using small minnows or jigs.
- White Bass: Some white bass action might be found around the mouth of Bluestone Creek and in main lake coves. Try small crankbaits or in-line spinners.
- Catfish: Catfishing remains good. Try cut bait or chicken livers in shallow to medium depths.
The cloudy conditions and comfortable temperatures should keep fish active throughout the day. Anglers should take advantage of the high water levels to access typically shallow areas. Good luck and tight lines!
