Study shows Vance, Warren raise tourism spending

Parts of the Tri-County saw a boost in tourism dollars last year. Earlier this month, the state released the latest visitor spending figures in a study called “The Economic Impact of Travel on North Carolina Counties.” Vance and Warren counties experienced an increase in visitor spending from 2013, while Granville County had a slight decrease from the previous year.

Virginia Uranium files federal suit against Virginia

Virginia Uranium, Inc., the Chatham-based company that owns one of the world’s largest uranium resources, located in Pittsylvania County, has filed a lawsuit in federal court against the Commonwealth of Virginia asking that the state’s 33-year-old law banning the development of uranium mining be nullified.
