At least two boats participating in a FLW fishing tournament in Nutbush Creek on Kerr Lake were swamped by high waves last weekend according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. No one was injured but the boats had to be padded to shore and await help. There were strong winds producing unusually high waves.

The Corps says Ranger Card had briefed the boaters the day before the accidents, urging them to wear their life jackets. Card ended up part of the rescue effort.
