The Army Corps of Engineers says there has been heavy rain throughout the entire watershed. Kerr Lake is estimated to rise above 310 feet (above sea level) on Thursday. This will affect all campgrounds and boat ramps on the lake.

Middleburg steakhouse looks at late May reopening

Owners of Middleburg Steak and Seafood House said Wednesday that repairs to the building are all but done, but other work still needs to be completed before the restaurant is ready to reopen, which could be in late May.

Several boats in the water at Satterwhite Point Marina caught fire Thursday night following what several people described as an explosion on one of the boats. Vance County Fire Department and other responders are on the scene. The fire began about 7:45 p.m.

Three boats were heavily damaged in a fire at Satterwhite Point Marina Thursday night. Officials indicate there were no injuries.One eyewitness is quoted as saying there appeared to be an explosion on one of the boats, triggering the fire. Two houseboats and a ski boat suffered the major damage.

Governor to Break Ground for new 'Splash Park' at Occoneechee

On Monday, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe is expected to take part in the groundbreaking for a new water 'splash park' at Occoneechee State Park in Clarksville. The splash park is one of the projects funded under a $5.6 million budget amendment approved by the General Assembly in 2015.

Occoneechee received $1.5 million for the addition of the splash park and yurts.
