A lineup of 26 cooking teams has signed up so far for the 5th Annual Big Bad BBQ in Boydton competition the weekend of Aug. 27. Professional pit crews from across the southeast will arrive on Friday, Aug. 26, and set up their smokers to fill Boydton’s Courthouse Square with the delightful smells of barbecue.

Clarksville “LakeFest” Drops Fireworks

Saturday night’s fireworks show, usually the highlight of the weekend LakeFest in Clarksville, was cancelled due to weather, according to the Clarksville Lake Country Chamber of Commerce. In a posting on their Facebook page, the Chamber said it was postponing the fireworks until next year “due to lightning in the surrounding area.”
