Swimming Cancelled at Kerr Lake Triathlon

This weekend's "Kerr Lake International" triathlon scheduled at Bullocksville State Park will no longer have a 1.5 K swim as part of the course. Instead, event sponsors say the event will be turned into a duathlon consisting of a 3.1 mile run, the existing 20.6 mile bike race, and another 3.1 mile run.

Governor to Break Ground for new 'Splash Park' at Occoneechee

On Monday, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe is expected to take part in the groundbreaking for a new water 'splash park' at Occoneechee State Park in Clarksville. The splash park is one of the projects funded under a $5.6 million budget amendment approved by the General Assembly in 2015.

Occoneechee received $1.5 million for the addition of the splash park and yurts.
